Yves J. Ribeill, Ph.D. - President and CEO
Prior to organizing SCYNEXIS, Inc. in 2000, Dr. Yves Ribeill held various positions during a 20-year international pharmaceutical career with Aventis and its predecessor Rhone-Poulenc Rorer. His roles with those companies included Discovery Chemistry Group leader for Anti-Viral Research and leadership in the Central Nervous System Group in France. He later served as Director of Chemistry for the Anti-Infective Group. He was involved in all phases of the drug discovery and development effort that resulted in the FDA approval of the anti-bacterial Synercid in 1999. Dr. Ribeill is the author of more than 26 publications and 15 patents. He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the World Health Organization. Ribeill has a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Montpellier in France. Under Dr. Ribeill’s leadership, SCYNEXIS has grown from a small startup with fellow Aventis employees to an international company today with more than 100 employees and research agreements with many of the leading global pharmaceutical companies.

Brian Schwab - Chief Licensing Officer & General Counsel
Brian Schwab joined SCYNEXIS in 2003 after having served as Deputy General Counsel for Aventis CropScience in Lyon, France where he managed a team of attorneys. He earlier served as Senior Legal Counsel for Rhone-Poulenc in Paris in a variety of joint venture, merger and acquisition and licensing matters, including the creation of Aventis through a merger of Rhone-Poulenc and Hoechst. He has also worked as an attorney in the Paris office of Freshfields, a leading British international law firm, and in the Palo Alto office of Cooley Godward, a major life sciences law firm. He has an undergraduate degree from Cornell University and received his law degrees from UCLA and the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands.

Charles F. (Chuck) Osborne, Jr. - Chief Financial Officer
Chuck Osborne joined SCYNEXIS in 2003. Previously he was chief financial officer of Nobex Corporation in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. At Nobex, Osborne completed two venture capital rounds totaling more than $60 million. He also was involved in structuring and negotiating corporate licenses and research agreements with global pharmaceutical companies, including GlaxoSmithKline. He previously was vice president of finance for International Murex Technologies Co., a NASDAQ-listed medical diagnostics company. While at Murex, he ran the worldwide finance group while based in London and was involved with the sale of the company to Abbott Laboratories. He is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Sam Hopkins, Ph.D. - Chief Scientific Officer
Prior to joining SCYNEXIS in 2006, Dr. Hopkins was the President of Research and Development and scientific co-founder of Parion Sciences, which focuses on the discovery, development, and clinical testing of novel therapeutic agents that modulate the function of epithelial ion channels. From 1995 through 2001 Dr. Hopkins was the Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs at Trimeris Inc. During his tenure at Trimeris, Dr. Hopkins designed the research, development and clinical/regulatory strategies that led to the global approval of Fuzeon (T-20) for the treatment of individuals infected with HIV-1. This represented the first approval worldwide of a new class of drugs referred to as “Fusion Inhibitors”. In 2003 FDA recognized the approval of Fuzeon as a major milestone in HIV drug development. Dr. Hopkins is a scientific advisor to biotechnology companies and to the National Institutes of Health and the Department of Health and Human Services. Dr. Hopkins received a B.A. in biology in 1980 from Western Maryland College in Westminster, Maryland and a Ph.D. in 1985 in Biochemistry and Biophysics from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.
